You moms all know this, Winnipeg needs a kid friendly coffee shop, and that is what Chris of Lil' Crickets is trying to do!!
It will be a totally family friendly coffee shop, with a play area for the kids, playhouse, train set, craft table - the works!! Play area at the back, and mommies and daddies relaxing in the front drinking coffee (and keeping an eye on the kids, of course!!) It's geared for kids 6 and under....sounds like a dream to me!!! And all toddler friendly!!! There will be yummy coffees and teas for the parents, and for the kids fruit cups, bagels etc!! I can picture it in my head already, and can't wait for it to open!!
They were hoping to open in January, but are still in the fundraising stage (final, i hope!) and here's where we can all help...they are actually doing snow removal in Transcona to raise money for the opening, so if you, or anyone you know needs snow removal anywhere in that area, contact Chris at 918-1500 and mention the blog and save 10%!!! Pass this info on, and hopefully by next summer we can all meet at Lil' Crickets, chitchat, drink some coffee and not have to worry about the kids getting burned by coffee, running into tables, and the many other embarassments of trying to relax at a coffee shop with a toddler.
To find out more about Lil' Crickets check out their facebook group too!!!

I'll share this with my facebook friends, at least half of them are parents in the area they're doing snow clearing.
I second that question, where are they looking at opening? The same area they're fundraising, I hope, although I bet no matter where they open I'll wind up going there during the long winters where my toddler is stuck inside a lot (and i'm stuck with her- help! lol) -

Chris here, the owner of Lil' Crickets. The first location will be in Transcona and upon the success of that location the next would be in St. Vital.

I posted a comment on the blog awhile back about buying eyeglasses online from www.zennioptical.com
I finally decided to take the plunge after trying glasses at various stores in the city. I checked the measurements of glasses that I liked and wrote them down so I wouldnt forget and took note of the shapes of glasses that suited me while in store. I found a pair at zenni optical that was as close to what I wanted. They have finally come and they are great. THE BIG DEAL is they only cost me 76.00 for high index lenses, clip ons (which are cheap) cloth and a plastic case. The glasses are great, I find the quality to be the same as my old glasses. I highly recommend checking it out. -

Ooh, it's too bad that they're going to be located so far away - I know lots of mommies in my area that would LOVE something like this!!

Definitely wish it was closer - we'd be all over St. Vital but Transcona is just too far for us.

Okay so the time has come to maybe have a kid friendly social. It has to be kid friendly as that what Lil' Crickets is all about. I need lots of help though. Maybe someone would like to step up and help out (or even organize) this cause. The cause being Lil' Crickets needs some more funds to move forward with the opening. We are sure there will be great success in this store and there will be more store openings. But we have to raise some more funds in order to get the first one going. It could be benefit another company as well. Maybe hire someone to do this and they cold be rewarded after the event. If you or someone you know wants to do this have them email me... lilcrickets@mts.net
