Got to try out a bunch of games from Foxmind. They were all amazing!! The kind of games you know you'll be playing for years. Not your average game either, thinking kind of games. So, here are my favorites:
First of all, Equilibrio - my absolute favorite. Didn't think it would be my kind of game, totally obsessed with it now. Simple too, you get a bunch of plastic blocks of all different kinds of shapes, and you need to build the structures from the book. The first few were easy, and was thinking it was a kids game, til I moved further into the book. You need to concentrate, checking it at eye level...you really get into it. Some of them I haven't even been able to do yet (I am not the most patient person) but I will keep trying. Was really fun to be able to open the box, and right away start playing it with my 3 year old. She was actually really good at it, and often does it by herself. Either makes them up, or follows the book the best she can. Perfect game for a cold winter night!! Great for adults, but good for the little ones, teaches you patience and team work.
They also have a similar one called Architecto, which is on my xmas list!!
MetaForms%20NEW-OB-400
Next up was Metaforms, this one was a big hit with my mom and daughter. This one is rated 5 and up, but if you start from the beginning, younger kids can easily play too. This game is a puzzle one, you follow instructions in the book, have to place 9 wooden blocks on the grid according to that. It gets harder and harder, and like my daughter says "they trick you". My mom was over visiting, and they played it together, both solved it, with a different way of getting there, pretty neat. Then, my mom was silent for a long time, realized she was stuck on a hard one. She kept at it, and figured it out eventually. Was fun to watch!! This once again teaches patience, and problem solving. I really enjoyed watching my daughter play it, really focusing, and not giving up.
The games are amazing, not your every day game. They are really well made to begin with, and not the regular kinds of kids games. Nothing is dumbed down for them, they start a little easier, but made for you to eventually progress. They are really fun too, I am actually looking forward to winter, so we can sit down and play all of them together!!
