Canada Post employees are voting today whether or not they want to strike - if they do choose to strike it wouldn't start until May 24th. Good idea to keep an eye on this if you rely on the mail a lot. I know a lot of people nowadays barely use the mail anymore - but for those who do this will make a big difference.
A few months ago it seemed like the mail was very slow and there were a lot of problems. I've been happy with ours lately, it's caught up and shows up on time. Is anyone still having problems?

We had a week of so where the mail was terrible, but since they changed the way they are delivering (using vehicles more), our mail has been great. [We actually get mail delivery around 9 am.]
A mail stoppage would impact the delivery of some of the 'freebies' I receive (I may have to actually purchase shampoo and conditioner), as well as coupons I receive by mail.

Yeah, for me it would only delay the coupons and freebies. We could change to paperless for everything else. We've just been a little slow on going paperless for everything.

Eek! That would sure have an impact on business if there was no mail delivery! Let's hope they can reach a resolution!

lets hope - especially for the families of the Canada Post employees. I like how everyone talks about the impact on them, but no one stands to support the employees. I am a wife of a mail man and it is our family that suffers and the community that watches ...

That's an excellent point! Thanks for reminding us of that!

I know a couple of mail carriers and would hate to see that happen.
I do hope those Autopac cheques get in the mail before then. I heard they are being mailed mid-May instead of late May which I heard originally. Maybe they know something we don't.-

Wow! Didn't even think about that! We are all waiting on those cheques - glad to hear they're mailing them out earlier!! I guess we should know shortly how the vote went.

We used to get our mail 9.30 am. Now we are lucky if we get any some days. 7.00pm still no mail delivered. There is no need for the mail to be delivered late at night. It should be delivered before 5.00 pm.

i order a lot of stuff online from the states. canada post (or probably customs) or a combo of both it takes forever to get here! up to 6 weeks sometimes...
maybe the strike will solve some problems that will speed up delivery? -

I very seldome comment on issues- this one has me primed
From reading the hipe there seem to be a number of factors at play -
1) canada post is wanting to cut costs (reduce wages of new employees)
2) Canada Post will lose about half of their employees due to attrition in the next few years (wanting to cut staff)
3) Banks are pushing for customers to use on line services
4) Many companies are pushing for customers to pay their bills on line
I am not about to push the "conspiracy theory" button but there is something about this that seems as though someone should connect the dots -

These people have never spent a cent on their education for their job. They have no stress from their job. The starting wage is $23.00 with a great pension & health benefits and they have the nerve to ask for more. Get lost.

Are you familar with the actual jobs that these people do, Irene? From your comments, I would say you are not. My husband was a letter carrier/courier driver and I know lots about the stress involved.
