I've been meaning to post this up but also wanted to give stores a chance to get it going - Dollarama stores are now accepting coupons!! I really love when workers at stores email me tips in advance, keep it up!! And don't worry, I don't name names or anything like that! ![]()
I don't have too much desire to use coupons at Dollarama, our store in st. b always has long lineups already. And we usually buy paper there or kids toys/crafts. I don't buy any food there at all - I always wonder where it's been and how it ended up there etc. I do buy salt to make playdoh there. I love getting my printer paper there, and to make return address labels. The last time I was there was talking to an employee who was packing up the entire food aisle - they had been told to reorganize it more like a real grocery store. The thing that really caught my eye was the amount of dented cans...especially on tomato products. The food had been shelved, then packed into bins, then reshelved at a later date....
Could be some good deals on things like Dove products, toothpaste - they seem to have more and more name brands lately. Lots of it is pretty small sizes at mine, not sure if they'd be the same as what's on the coupons.
Not sure if this will be a permanent thing or not - meant to go try it out but haven't done so yet. Haven't heard any specific rules yet either, probably just basic coupon rules.
Has anyone gone to try it? What do you buy there that you'd use coupons on?

OMG!!!!! Are you SERIOUS?!?!?!!
I have a couple of those BOGO coupons for chocolate bars!!! -

Not sure what I would use them on - but it's nice them give it a go! We buy the items similar to what you mentioned. Also cards and some of the pre-made craft kits good for a rainy day. Not many food items either. Gravy mixes.
I would like to see Costco accept coupons yet. -

OMG...I love Dollarama. My granddaughter calls it Dollargramma. (Think maybe I go there a little too often?) I always find a lot of things I didn't think I needed whenever I go there. I get a lot of kitchen things there (little containers to hold pasta and rice and spices and such, wisks and peelers and stuff like that that I can throw away if they are looking used), lots of little games, books and crafts for my granddaughter, balloons for her (the floaty ones - her mother loves me for that one), chocolate bars for her (and sometimes gramma), seasonal fun things and lots of other stuff. I don't get a lot of 'food' items there, but I do recall getting a can of tomatoes and a couple cans of tomato soup there once (guess I needed them).... oh and the oreo-type cookies, they are really good and my dgd likes them (as does her Gma). Like every place, you really have to look and check the prices - somethings are actually more expensive than what you would pay elsewhere.

I will have to go and check but if they carry Ziploc bags, I still have 2 coupons of Buy2get2free to use by June 30.
Anyone know where any sales on Ziploc? I got 8 plastic storage containers last time the coupons were out and Safeway had them on for $2.99.-

Mine has a knock off brand, no real ziploc i think - they might have those huge storage ones as true ziploc...but i am thinking it's knock off. I think they have some glad ones maybe.

I'm glad you posted this because I was at dollarama yesterday when I saw the sign of accepting coupons. I was wondering what brands would they even carry for me to use a coupon on? I like dollarama for the gift bags (I remember avoiding gift bags and tissue paper back in the day since they were so expensive as compared to wrapping paper rolls!), sticker books, stationary items and the simple white shower caddy that's only $1.50 but looks like my expensive rubbermaid one!
I'm not a big fan of purchasing foods there either since I'm all about expiry dates and food safety. Other things like the toothpaste (as mentioned above), lead in children's toys, recalled pregancy tests and condoms (honestly one should never buy these at a discount store anyways to ensure safety) make me weary of buying anything that can be ingested or used by young children.-

You totally made me laugh - forgot they have condoms there. Pregnancy test...fine, can only be right or wrong. A condom...you could get pregnant, std etc....not worth trying to save a few bucks. And who knows where or when they came from!!
I loooove their gift bags, i forgot how expensive they used to be!!

Have already heard of one/two folks going in and using hundreds and hundreds of dollars of coupons at the ST B location and clearing shelves out
I haven't had the time to go and take a peek but it looks like rules will be popping up to calm the gung-ho coupon raiders
will wait and see and try in a month or two. -

I buy a lot of stuff at Dollarama - craft supplies and such for my daughter and daycare, gift bags, party supplies, paper plates & napkins, etc. And yes, even pregnancy tests! For those of you who are wary - there is nothing wrong with them, they are as sensitive as a First Response and about $12 cheaper. Accurate too (admittedly I speak from experience! lol)
As for food however, I'm always a little cautious - the only thing I've purchased is Dr.Oetker Sauce n' Cake. Since it's a dry packaged good, I'm not too concerned about it and it's much cheaper 2/$1.00 Wouldn't try much else, knock off brands, etc. And I stay away from most food containers, baby products and toys because of the risk of lead. -

I would say nothing I usually buy from the Dollar store have I ever seen a coupon for.
I usually get dry goods - if anything; cake mixes, gravy mixes, Dove body wash if I can find it. Otherwise it's crafts or an odd candy bar. And of course my go to place for wrapping paper and ribbion -

The Portage Ave Dollarama confirmed for me yesterday that they are in fact accepting coupons now. They seem to have a lot of name brand items that coupons might be applicable for - like soaps and body washes (Dove), toothpaste (Crest, Aquafresh), sometimes cleaning supplies and dishwashing liquids, cat food/treats, etc. I'll definitely have my coupon book on hand now!

Used my first coupon at Dollarama yesterday - they have a variety of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreens/oils for $2, and had a $1 off coupon from a store tear pad. Not bad!
